Miami Workers Center and Power U Center for Social Change Unite

Miami Workers Center (MWC) and Power U Center for Social Change are merging, seizing a shared strategic, economic, and political opportunity to come together to build a stronger, more connected movement for justice, dignity, and community power in Florida.

Two powerhouses, Miami Workers Center (MWC) and Power U for Social Change (Power U), are seizing a shared strategic, economic, and political opportunity to come together, formalizing an informal structure, through an organizational merger that aligns our strategy, leadership, and organizing infrastructure into one unified organization focused on building long-term, people-powered transformation across Miami-Dade County.

This power-building merger will leverage our shared legacy, organizational resources, and deep leadership expertise, alongside a critical political window of opportunity, to build a community rooted institution that models what a pro-ecosystem, movement-facing organization can look like: one that runs authentic working-class campaigns, recruits and develops new leaders, and strengthens working-class politics across Miami-Dade County, a key region in Florida.

We recognize that this next chapter builds on the years of work, struggle, sacrifice, and vision of the members, organizers, staff, partners, and community leaders who came before us. We carry that legacy forward with gratitude, humility, and a shared commitment to what is possible when our communities organize together.

This merger is an invitation to imagine and build something bigger than any one organization: a home, a center for people power, collective learning, solidarity, and transformative change.

Allapattah People's Assembly

Tired of empty promises from politicians and a corrupt system that protects private profit over public life, Allapattah residents deserve to be in the drivers’ seat when it comes to redevelopment in their neighborhood.
